Introduction

The Plot
Will Smith stars in this action-packed movie as Captain Steven Hiller, a marine pilot chosen to lead a dangerous mission to save the world from an alien invasion. With the help of scientist David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum), they discover that the aliens are using Earth’s resources to build a massive ship that will destroy our planet. The only way to stop them is to destroy the ship before it’s ready to launch. But time is running out, and the aliens are getting closer and closer to their goal. Can Captain Hiller and his team save the world before it’s too late?
The Characters
Will Smith stars as Robert Neville, a man who is seemingly the only one left in New York City after an outbreak of a rabies-like virus that turns people into bloodthirsty creatures only active at night. Robert’s only goal is to find a cure for the virus and find other survivors.
Gene Hackman plays Neville’s neighbor, Olivieri, who is also one of the infected. At first, Neville is scared of Olivieri and wants nothing to do with him. However, over time, the two develop a friendship of sorts as they are both struggling to survive.
The Acting
Will Smith and Gene Hackman both give outstanding performances in this movie. They are both very convincing as their respective characters, and their scenes together are particularly excellent. The rest of the cast is also very good, but Smith and Hackman are the standouts.
The Direction
The direction by Micheal Bay is top notch. The way he films the car chases and the shootout scenes are just awesome. There are no words to describe how great his direction is in this movie.
The Cinematography
The cinematography was exceptional in Will Smith and Gene Hackman’s movie. The colors were very vibrant and the shots were well-composed. I particularly liked the way that the camera followed the characters around and captured their expressions.

As soon as the opening credits finished, I knew that I was in for a treat. The music was nothing short of perfection. It established the mood for the entire film and set the stage for what was to come.
